Are you interested in becoming a Volunteer or Volunteer Fire Lookout, then visit the  Buck Rock Foundation's Web-Site  for further information.

Delilah Lookout is located in the Hume District of the Sequoia National Forest in Township 13 S., Range 26 E., Section 11 at an elevation of 5,170 feet, and is approximately 45 miles East of Fresno, California, in the Southern Sierra. Delilah is not in operation continuously at this time, but is placed into use when fire danger is very high or volunteer lookouts are available. The original lookout was built pre 1916 with the tower built in 1924 with a cabin below and replaced in 1959 and in 1967 with a steel tower from Lemore Naval Air Force Base.

It has seen several incarnations including a 50 foot metal tower with live-in cab constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937. In 1960 this structure was replaced with a 70 foot tall metal tower from Lemoore Navel Air Station. The lookout was staffed yearly, funded by both the California Department of Forestry and the Sequoia National Forest Service until 1992. Since then it has been staffed during extreme fire danger and as the Forest Service budget has allowed. The Buck Rock Foundation Volunteer Lookout Program expects to staff Delilah with volunteers for as many days possible beginning fire season 2005. If staffed, the lookout will be open to the public. Some of the information is courtsey of Buck Rock Foundation.

FFLA (Forest Fire Lookout Association) Reports for the year:

Buck Rock Foundation volunteers spearheaded a complete restoration of the outhouse at Delilah Lookout.

Most of the labor was done by BRF volunteers over several project work weekends throughout the summer of 2010. A complete interior rehabilitation was done at Delilah.

A new storage shed, security gate, cameras, solar panels and battery system, and UV blinds were installed at Delilah.
